Good News In The Juvenile Court Clerk's Office

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

According to a news story today, the Hamilton Co Juvenile Court Clerk’s office has been operated under budget for the past 10 years. While you’d think that would be good news, some folks are seeking to replace the current Clerk, Ron Swafford. I wonder why we haven’t given Ron an award for operating his office without deficit, during the past 10 years. Maybe Ron should offer classes to some leaders on operating within a budget.

Some folks seem to think there is no auditing or oversight of the Juvenile Court Clerks’ office. That’s just not true. Others insinuate that the Juvenile Clerk is responsible for rehabilitating the young people who come thru the Court system. That is not the Clerks job. I believe the Corrections Dept. has that responsibility.

Ron Swafford has performed everything required of him and more for 12 years. Why in the world would we replace a man who has upheld everything required of him by his oath, a man who is always willing to help anyone in need, a man of great humility and strength, just because it’s election time and a few want to promote the “Out with the old, in with the new” platform.

While we should be thankful that we have an elected official who sees himself as a servant of the people and who operates his office in surplus, Ron is being attacked by folks who want to replace him for doing his job.

Ron understands that not every situation requires a new computer or operating system. Many situations require live employees, a.k.a a human interface, to help people with problems.

Ron Swafford has never suggested that he has a job for life. The voters in Hamilton County have chosen to keep him in office because he is a man of his word. He is trustworthy and honest. He is well respected throughout Hamilton County because with Ron, what you see is what you get. When I trade cars, I don’t change my insurance company, I stick with the one that has served me well. We’ve been in good hands for 12 years. I ask you to Re-elect Ron Swafford Juvenile Court Clerk.
