Two 17-year-olds have been charged in the murder of a 21-year-old man who was shot in the head while sitting in his vehicle in his driveway last Wednesday night.
Sheriff Jim Hammond said the pair are facing felony murder and aggravated robbery charges in Juvenile Court in the shooting incident in which 21-year-old Darrian Levon Moore was killed on Shady Hollow Lane.
He said there may be additional arrests.
Lt. Mark Hooper said detectives worked long hours developing leads in the case and got a break on Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff Hammond called the incident "a robbery gone bad" and said it was not gang-related or drug-related.
He said the two boys charged knew the victim and are from the same neighborhood.
Sheriff Hammond said, "This was a needless killing. This was a good young man from a good family. Our sympathy goes out to the family."
Nothing was taken from the victim, it was stated.
He was shot with a handgun.
At approximately 10:47 p.m., the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office had responded to Memorial Hospital on a reported person shot. When investigators arrived at the hospital they interviewed Charles Moore, the victim’s father.
Mr. Moore advised investigators he heard gunshots outside his residence. When he went outside, he saw his son sitting in his vehicle. When he approached the vehicle and found his son suffering from an apparent gunshot to the head, he immediately drove him to Memorial Hospital.
Due to the severity of the injury, the victim was transferred to Erlanger Hospital, where he later died.
Sheriff Hammond said the victim had an 11 p.m. curfew. He said he often would sit in his vehicle and text his friends after arriving home.
