David Cantrell Is The Obvious Answer - And Response

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

As a resident of Hamilton County District 2, I have researched David Cantrell and Jim Fields. I have studied websites, papers, attended their forum, and talked to friends and associates.

David Cantrell has government experience. He serves on the Signal Mountain Board of Zoning Appeals. His wife is chairman of the Planning Commission. David Cantrell is a student of local politics and has frequently attended both town and county meetings. David Cantrell is an international pilot who banks his flight hours in short compact trips. He is a member of several organizations. He sits on no boards.

Jim Fields has no government experience. He is a full-time independent attorney, an associate professor at the University of Phoenix, and a professional mediator. He is a member of several organizations. He sits on several boards.

As I understand it, a commissioner devotes more than 20 hours a week to county business. The question is: which candidate has the experience and the time to devote to representing the citizens of Hamilton County Commission? The obvious answer is David Cantrell.

Sincerely,

Mary Beth McClure

I too have done the research. Since I only met David Cantrell recently, I had to rely upon web-site, talking to others, etc. However, in my analysis of the men and available information, I have arrived at a different conclusion.

I have known Jim Fields and his family for over 20 years, and throughout this period of time, he has been engaged with his family, church and community. Jim has experience working for and with people from all walks of life. He has served his clients, his employees, his peers, and his community. In essence, Jim is a servant leader. While he is an attorney, Jim is a businessman having managed his firm for many years. I’ve watched Jim make very difficult decisions in his law practice, as well as in other situations, with upmost integrity. Jim is a man of high energy and is extremely capable.

Jim will serve the residents of District 2 as County Commissioner well; therefore, I highly recommend Jim Fields to you. Please join my wife and me in voting for Jim Fields on Thursday, August 5th.
