The third installment of Last Fridays on Main is coming Friday and Ignis Glass Gallery and Studio has new offerings for the occasion.
Glass artists Christopher Mosey and Bruce Benefield will be performing live glass blowing demonstrations all through the evening which will allow the public to experience the intensity and artistry involved in creating a sculpture from 2000 degree molten glass. Visitors will also have the opportunity to sign up to win one of the night’s glass creations.
In addition to the glass blowing demonstrations, Ignis will be offering the opportunity to blow a glass ornament. During the Last Fridays on Main Event the artists will be assisting customers on a first come first serve basis to make an original piece of hand blown glass. During this session participants will be allowed to choose the colors that will be used, assist in heating the color into the molten glass, and then capture their breath in the glass sphere that they blow. The rate for this session will be discounted to $35 per ornament for the occasion.
The gallery at Ignis Glass Studio will also be open offering refreshments and will be showcasing new work by Christopher Mosey as well as nine other glass artists from around the country and Canada.
Last Fridays on Main will run from 5-8 p.m. on Friday. For more information about activities at participating venues, visit the “Last Fridays on Main” blog at lastfridaysonmain.blogspot.com or call Ignis Glass Studio at 26-2565.
