There will be no lane closures as a result of this activity, but there may be occasional shoulder closures during nighttime hours. Please be alert for workers and equipment near the roadway.

I-75 widening project from 1.1 miles south of Lee Highway (SR-2, US-11) to 1.2 miles north of Lee Highway (SR-2, SR-11): All lanes and permanent ramps are open to traffic. The contractor will have no lane closures this report period. Estimated completion date is August.

Construction of concrete bulb-tee beam bridge on US-11 (SR-2, Cummings Hwy.) over Lookout Creek (LM 3.64) including grading, drainage and paving: The contractor will be implementing temporary lane closures or shifts between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Saturday in the work zone for utility relocations and bridge construction. Flaggers will be in place to assist with traffic control. Estimated project completion date is July 2011.

Hamilton, Bradley and Marion Counties: I-75 / I-24 / SR-153 / SR-29 construction of an intelligent transportation system on various interstate and state routes in and near Chattanooga: The contractor will implement shoulder closures throughout this report period within the project area on weekdays between the hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and anytime on the weekend as part of the ITS construction. There also may be weeknight lane closures throughout the project between the hours of 10 p.m.-5 a.m., nighttime weekend lane closures between the hours of 10 p.m.-10 a.m., and intermittent temporary stoppages of traffic (less than 15 minutes) at various locations throughout the project area to allow the contractor to perform ITS work. THP will assist with traffic control. Estimated completion date is December.

Rehabilitation of the bridge on I-24 East over the ramp to US-27, the ramp to US-27, and the bridge on South Seminole Drive over I-24 (MM 177 to 179 and MM 181 to 183): The contractor will have nighttime lane closures in both on I-24 work zones from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays to perform bridge rehabilitation work. At least one lane will be maintained at all times. The South Seminole Bridge over I-24 in Chattanooga is now reduced single-lane bridge. This one-lane operation is necessary to make repairs to the concrete deck surface of the bridge. Traffic signals have been installed at each end of the bridge to regulate the flow of traffic through the area. This one-lane traffic operation will remain in place for approximately four months while the repairs to the bridge are being completed. Motorists are advised to anticipate short delays when traveling through this area. Estimated project completion date is November 2011.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
