A grand opening will be Saturday for the new Tom's 4x4.
It will be from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Exit 5B off Highway 153, right at second light onto South Access Road (south of the dam). Or turn right onto South Access Road from Amnicola Highway.
The grand opening event will include lunch, prizes and 4x4 vehicles. Lunch will be catered by the Cherry Street Diner.
An 8,500-pound winch and other items will be raffled off during the event.
Tom's 4x4 sells and installs aftermarket parts for Jeeps, trucks, and SUVs. The store also handles Diesel Performance.
Officials said, "This store has a huge inventory which has not been done previously in aftermarket 4x4 parts."
The store is owned by Chattanoogans Laura Westbrook and Tom Pickett.
They said they "realized that needs were not being met in this market. East Tennessee has an enormous popuation of Jeep and truck owners. Offroading is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. perhaps as a result of the 'staycation' mentality."
