Luckily for Chattanooga, Stella Anderson loves Sweet Cece’s frozen yogurt. Touted for centuries all over the world as a super food, yogurt contains active cultures which help to overcome lactose intolerance, aid digestion of milk protein and help prevent and combat digestive tract infections. High in calcium and low in fat, this yogurt tastes incredible!

Stella had a life-changing, Ah-Hah moment when she was visiting her sister in Nashville. “We stopped in Sweet Cece’s for a frozen yogurt (the line was actually around the block!) and I knew I had to bring it to Chattanooga! There is not a single dedicated yogurt shop in the city,” she says.

With a background in banking and law, Stella was ahead of the learning curve in that area, but behind it in another. ”I’ve never been in the restaurant business, so there has been a steep learning curve. However, I’ve enjoyed the process,” she says.

Sweet Cece’s, newly opened on the North Shore at 330 Frazier, will boggle your eyes before the frozen treat awes your taste buds. Part old-fashioned candy store and part high-end cool, Sweet Cece’s dedicates an entire wall to every topping you can imagine, all in tall glass cylinders. Chocolate covered raisins, chunks of Snickers bars, Jr. Mints, and bites of cheesecake are surrounded by graham crackers, M&Ms, Skittles and candy sprinkles. Fresh raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and pineapple tempt you, and then the hot fudge sauce and caramel sauce are almost too much to bear.

You are the creator of your frozen masterpiece. You decide how much Heathbar to add and how many brownie chunks you want. And you can mix flavors as you serve your own frozen yogurt. Elizabeth Martin is addicted to Georgia Peach. I’m partial to the EuroTart swirled with Mango sorbet. Stella loves the Red Velvet cake, which is coming soon. And the peanut butter mixed with Chocolate Kiss is a Reese’s cup gone cold. There are eight flavors and always a sorbet, as well as a sugar-free flavor.

“Two of my kids are allergic to milk. So this is a real treat for them,” Elizabeth says.

All but a couple of flavors are fat-free, and all contain the active yogurt cultures that are more beneficial than pureed vegetables and raw liver. But Sweet Cece’s tastes so much better…

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
