Scots Assistant Named Head Coach At Crown College

Friday, July 09, 2010

Luke Herbert, who joined the Covenant College family last August as Assistant Men's Basketball Coach, has been named the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Crown College, in St. Bonifacius, Mn.

"It's a bittersweet time for us at Covenant," remarked Coach Kyle Taylor. "I am really excited for Luke as he has the opportunity to get home and be a head college coach. On the other hand, I'm losing a very good friend and a great coach. Luke excelled in recruiting and building quality relationships with our players. He will be sorely missed. We wish him the best, and know that God has great things in store for both he and Lindsey at Crown."

Herbert, a Minnesota native, will start at Crown almost immediately. Crown College is affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and is an NCAA Division III institution, serving roughly 650 undergraduate students, and 1,200 students overall. The school is located about 20 minutes west of Minneapolis.

Tami Smialek, Director of Athletics at Covenant College had this to say about Luke, "I have appreciated the opportunity to work with Luke and we have been blessed to have him as a member of our staff. I am confident that Luke will serve the Lord well in all that he does."

When asked about his new job Coach Herbert said, "The opportunity to be a head coach back in my home state, close to our families is a true blessing (Luke's wife Lindsey is from Fargo, ND). I felt all along that this process has been very spirit driven, both in how the process went for me, and how Crown approached the search. I am extremely excited to see the Lord's work at Crown College and to be whatever part of that I can, but am going to miss my co-workers in the athletic department and certainly the players I've gotten to know over this past year."

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ...
