The Alpha Beta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) will hold its 23rd Annual Taster’s Luncheon to benefit the Walter E. Boehm Birth Defect Center on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Ridgedale Baptist Church located at 1831 Hickory Valley Road.
Tickets for the luncheon and fashion show may be purchased in advance and are available for a $15 donation. A special drawing for those who buy their tickets in advance will be held to win $100 cash. Limited seating will be available at the door. The chance to win the $100 cash prize is available only to advance ticket holders.
For those unable to attend, a $15 donation in advance also may be made to ensure eligibility for the cash prize.
The doors open at 10 a.m. beginning with a Chinese auction displaying a wide assortment of donated items up for bid. All donated items range in worth from $25-$50. Auction tickets containing 20 chances may be purchased at the door for $5.
A variety of salads and desserts prepared by Alpha Beta members will be served buffet-style to all attendees beginning at 11:30 a.m. Many of the sample dishes are prepared using recipes provided in the Alpha Beta cookbook also available in limited quantities for $15 at the event.
A fashion show, hosted by WRCB-TV3 anchor Jed Mescon, will take place during the luncheon. Participants can expect to see the latest in fall fashions from Christopher and Banks and Catherine’s, modeled by ESA members and friends.
Chinese Auction winners will be announced periodically throughout the fashion show. Realtime captioning will be provided for the first time at this event, to provide accessibility for attendees with hearing loss.
The mission of the Walter E. Boehm Birth Defect Center is to provide advocacy, support, and education for individuals, families and professionals. This ensures that families and individuals dealing with the complex issues of spina bifida and hydrocephalus receive on going quality health care, personal support and comprehensive educational materials. The Center is located at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital on the Erlanger Health Systems main campus in Chattanooga. It is a State of Tennessee 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization, receives funding through area United Way Agencies and also is funded through the generosity of many caring individuals and organizations.
