Marvin E. Long, 89, of Dunlap, Tennessee, formerly of Chattanooga, died on Monday, August 30, 2010.
Marvin was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area and served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He retired from DuPont Corporation with over 33 years. Marvin was a member of First Baptist Church of Dunlap.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Hunter J. Gattis and two brothers, Rev. Horace Long and Roy Long.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bettye Pass Long; three children, Peggy Ann Ball and husband, T.R., Gloria Rollins and husband, Charlie and Marvin “Eddie” E. Long, Jr. and wife Jennifer; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Headrick; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, and 1-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the North Chapel.
Services for Marvin will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the North chapel with Rev. Michael Rollins and Rev. Randy Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
