Now in the second full week of classes at Lee, six new faculty are teaching in the Departments of Communication and the Arts, English and Modern Foreign Languages, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Daniel Buck joins the Department of Communication and the Arts as an assistant professor of theatre.
Mr. Buck recently completed his Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) at Baylor University where he has also taught Theatre Appreciation, Acting for Non-majors and Acting: Shakespeare. He has also served as the theatre department chair at Pine Castle Christian Academy in Orlando, Fla.
He received his BA from Taylor University.
Dr. Aaron Adams, Assistant Professor of English, comes to Lee from Biola University where he was an assistant professor. He has also taught at Vanguard University and The Art Institute of California, San Diego.
Dr. Adams' specialty is British Literature with an emphasis on the role of religion in the nineteenth century. He is a member of various professional organizations including the Conference of Christianity and Literature. Adams has a PhD and MA from the University of Sussex and a BA from Vanguard University.
Alexandria LaFaye, Assistant Professor of English, comes to Lee having taught a wide range of course in composition, creative writing and literature. She has taught at Hamline University in St. Paul for the past three years.
Ms. LaFaye has authored 14 published works of fiction. Her work has received several awards including the California Book Award for Best Young Adult Novel, Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction, Notable Children's Book—Smithsonian Institute, and Voice of Youth Advocacy Outstanding Titles.
Ms. LaFaye has an MFA from the University of Memphis, an MA from Hollins University, an MA from Minnesota State University, and a BA from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Chad Schrock, Assistant Professor of English, has taught courses at Pennsylvania State University, James Madison University and Eastern Mennonite University. His areas of interest are medieval and early modern narrative poetry, patristic and medieval exegesis and literary hermeneutics, and neo-medieval literature.
Dr. Schrock received his PhD from Pennsylvania State University and his MDiv from Eastern Mennonite Seminary. He also received his MA from James Madison University and his BA from Pensacola Christian College.
Dr. Debra Mimbs has served as a part-time faculty member in the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Department at Lee and has taught mathematics in the local school system. Dr. Mimbs has returned this fall as an assistant professor of mathematics.
While in her doctoral program she taught Mathematics Modeling, Topology, Pre-calculus Algebra and Calculus. In her senior year at Lee, Dr. Mimbs was the recipient of the Lee's Mathematics Education Award and the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Departmental Award.
Dr. Mimbs recently completed the PhD at the University of Alabama where she also earned an MS. Her BS is from Lee University.
Dr. John Shugart, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, comes to Lee from Coastal Carolina University where he served as an assistant professor. Prior to last year, Dr. Shugart was a visiting professor at Berry College and was active in campus organizations and events. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemical Society.
Dr. Shugart received his PhD and MS from Emory University and his BS from Berry College.
