National singer and songwriter, Andrew Peterson will perform a benefit concert in Chattanooga on Saturday, Aug 21, at 7 p.m. The concert will benefit Richmont Counseling Center.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, and may be purchased at the door.

The concert will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 East Brainerd Road.

Organizers said, "Andrew Peterson is one of the most respected singer/songwriters in the Christian industry with a healthy fan base from the country side also. Andrew is a great storyteller who brings life to his music and children’s books."

Mr. Peterson released his new album, Counting Stars, on July 27, and it immediately shot to #1 on iTunes Christian Album Charts. The album will debut at #6 next week on Billboard's Christian Album Chart.

The CD focuses on families, including the positive marriage song “Dancing In The Minefields,” that is already garnering attention from early listeners. Mr. Peterson’s single, “The Reckoning” has already been selected as the #2 song of the first-half of the year by UnderTheRadar.com.

Mr. Peterson’s new CD has received rave reviews with Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Blogcritics.org saying, "Counting Stars is an all-embracing music any lover of Christian folk gospel and contemporary music would warm to."

Throughout his dozen-year career, Mr. Peterson has attracted a remarkable cast of musicians to his projects and concerts that include Allison Krauss and Ron Block of Union Station, folk artist Pierce Pettis, fiddler Stuart Duncan, Jill Phillips, Andrew Osenga (Caedmon’s Call) to name a few.

Besides his music career, Peterson is a talented author of children’s books with his latest 2010 Christy Award-winning book for Young Adult Fiction, North! Or Be Eaten, published this summer by Waterbrook Press. Accolades for the book include the New York Times best-selling author, G.P. Taylor and Phil Vischer, creator of Veggie Tales.
