Wednesday, September 01, 2010

A student at the Center for Creative Arts got in trouble after displaying a bag of marijuana to other students to show he was "cool".

Chattanooga Police responded to the school at 1301 Dallas Ave. on a narcotics violation. In speaking with Principal Debbie Smith, police were told that after receiving several reports from students, a 13-year-old boy was found in possession of a bag of marijuana. In talking with the child he admitted to getting the drug from another person for the purpose of showing it to classmates because he wanted to be cool.

The boy, who said he got the marijuana at Northgate Mall, was cited for possession of the marijuana and released to his parents.

Police responded to 510 Central Ave. apartment 515A on a call of domestic violence. In speaking with the victim, Elise Martin, she stated that she and her boyfriend, Keith Hinton, were arguing and that the argument became violent when Hinton began punching her in the face and stomach and holding her down in the process.

Ms. Martin was able to get away and fled to a neighbor’s apartment where she called police. Once officers arrived, they noticed visible swelling around her right eye and on her arms.

After talking to Hinton, police saw that he, too, had scratches and told police that Ms. Martin started the fight. After weighing both statements and Ms. Martin’s claim to be pregnant, Hinton was arrested for domestic simple assault.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
