Tennessee Conservation Voters presented its Legislative Friend award to Senator Andy Berke Tuesday night at a reception at 212 Market Restaurant.
“Andy Berke leads by example in the General Assembly,” said TCV Board President Mary Helen Clarke. "We applaud him for his commitment to key pro-environmental legislation and specifically for his courageous support for a statewide ban on mountaintop removal mining.”
“I thank Tennessee Conservation Voters for this honor, and I look forward to continuing to work on common sense, economically prudent ways to preserve our Tennessee life,” Sen. Berke said.
Tennessee Conservation Voters is a coalition of State conservation groups dedicated to raising voter awareness, advocating stronger laws, and holding Tennessee's elected leaders accountable for safeguarding the State's environment.
The organization will support pro-environmental candidates on November’s ballot, both incumbents and challengers, with a goal of achieving a multi-partisan conservation majority in the General Assembly.
