Police Say Robbers Who Carried Out 2 Downtown Kidnappings Also Invaded St. Elmo Home

Wednesday, September 01, 2010

Chattanooga Police said three men charged in two downtown kidnappings carried out a home invasion in St. Elmo.

The trio had gone to St. Elmo looking for the apartment of one of the kidnap victims, who had been able to climb out of the trunk and jump from the moving vehicle.

Police received a call of a residential robbery on Saturday at approximately 5:30 a.m. at 4119 Tennessee Ave., Apt. C.

The suspects, one who was armed with a handgun, kicked open the door and began kicking and striking the residents, William Wan and Weiran Yang.

The suspects ransacked the apartment and took numerous items.

They were seen leaving the apartment in a green 4-door Saturn.

During the investigation, it was learned that the robbery/kidnapping victim from High Street, Joseph Clark, lives at 4119 Tennessee Ave., Apt. B, and that the suspects who kidnapped him were looking to enter his apartment but entered a different apartment instead.

Mychael Chunn was kidnapped by the same three men a day earlier, police said.

Charged are Christopher Turner, Jeffery McClendon and a 17-year-old. Twain Jackson is charged with pawning some of the items taken from Mr. Chunn.
