The state fire marshal has issued a certificate of occupancy for newly constructed Park View Elementary in Bradley County. Classes, presently meeting at North Cleveland Church of God, will move to more spacious quarters on Sept. 13, with traffic flow being a concern.
Park View's completion comes in under budget, according to Derek Martin of American Constructors. The project architects, Kaatz, Binkley, Jones and Morris, will submit the Park View design into the Tennessee School Board Association School of the Year competition.
The Bradley County Board of Education swore in three board members at the monthly meeting on Thursday. Judge Daniel Swafford administered the oaths of office for newly-elected 2nd District representative Vicki Beaty and returning representatives Troy Weathers (District 4) and Christy Critchfield (District 6).
Mr. Weathers was elected board chairman and Charlie Rose (District 7) was elected vice-chairman. Mrs. Beaty was elected to represent the board with local state legislators.
The vacant 5th District seat held by Terry McGuire, who passed away recently, will be filled in the Nov. 2 election.
