This Sunday, at the First Tennessee Pavilion, Noogapalooza brings together a diverse set of musicians in a friendly contest to see who can perform some really cool music with bands chosen by lottery. While these musicians are among the best in town, many will be playing together for the first time, but for a couple of practice sessions. It’s kind of like Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Clarence Clemons, and Gregg Allman getting together, except they won’t be there – our best local musicians will be performing. Here are the pairings right here. I believe this will be one of the most fun and interesting events ever to be held here in Chattanooga. Come on out at 5 p.m. and enjoy the show. The word on the street is that I will be a judge, too.

Still have your 2010 Riverbend pin? It has a value to this day, other than as a souvenir. You can use your pin to get in to the Chattanooga Classic Golf Tournament next month. Free. The entire tourney. Here is some info on the tourney right here.

Riverfront Nights continues this weekend, with a great line-up Saturday night. My friend Wesley Crider opens and this is one fine guitarist you don’t want to miss. Oh, you want a sample of his world championship finger picking form? Well then, watch this. Randall Bramblett and Geoff Acheson headline the event and this is another don’t miss event.

Last week, I poked fun of Whitwell and got called on the carpet by some residents of the town. I thought I would make it up to them by highlighting this weekend’s Labor Day festivities that will be going on at our neighbors to the north this weekend. That’s right, Whitwell’s 49th Annual Labor Day Celebration is this weekend and includes festivities such as a parade, food, entertainment and the Miss Whitwell contest. I probably won’t be invited to be Grand Marshall, but it sounds like a fun event. You can learn more about it by clicking right here!

It’s not this week, but the time to make plans is now, as Grammy winner Shelby Lynne comes to Rhythm & Brews on Monday, September 13. There’s more good news – the show starts at 8 p.m., so it is possible to go see the show and still be awake at work the next day! Want tickets? Then just go right here. Better get your tix now, as this Grammy winner will sell out! Look for an interview right here on the Chattanoogan.com very soon.

Saturday, at the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza, one of Chattanooga’s musical treasures is playing a free concert. That’s right; Sweet Georgia Sound will be at the Plaza party from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. If you haven’t seen this big band, you are missing out.

Nightfall continues this Friday with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, one of the most anticipated shows of the season. The New Binkley Brothers open at 7 p.m.

Signs Vandalized At Cummings Cove As Battle With OHV Owners Continues

Two large advertising signs at the Cummings Cove development in Lookout Valley were vandalized Friday. One sign was spray painted with an expletive and another had the word "Aetna" in large letters.  There has been a long-running dispute between owners of Cummings Cove and those who enjoy going up the old Aetna Mountain Road to ride off-highway vehicles. We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... Roy Exum: The Sadness Of The Recall

Judge Jeff Hollingsworth, his eagle eyes zeroed on the U.S. Constitution and the laws that have been put into place since it was adopted in 1787, ended the recall of Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield Friday afternoon, but the pall of sadness that the effort cast over the city will last for a lot longer. If “time is money,” the whole deal cost us millions of dollars and even more ... (click for more)
