A reader notified us of this new restaurant and we visited this past weekend, not realizing until arrival that it was their grand opening. Crepe-a-deli is located at 137 River Street, right across from Sushi Nabe.

This is a very small place run by a friendly young guy just getting started in the restaurant business. I believe this might be the only crepe restaurant in the city – and it’s locally owned.

Of course, there are a few things that need to be worked on, but it was their first weekend, so I’m sure it will be trial and error for a while. As far as prices, they were fair, except that I think the $9.95 for the “Complete” was a bit high, as are a couple of other items - $9.50 for a three item omelet.

I started off with a cup of coffee which was quite good. Each cup is individually made so you can be assured you are getting a nice, fresh cup of coffee that hasn’t been sitting there all day. Since I drink decaf and seem to have a difficult time finding a decaf with body or strength, I was pleased that, by making it by the cup, he could adjust the strength.

We both ordered a breakfast crepe. I ordered the Early Bird ($6), which is scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese and a choice of ham or bacon (I chose bacon). Wayne ordered the Complete including a sunny side up egg, ham, cheese and avocado (although they were out of avocado).

The crepes were good, but needed some “presentation”. Also, they would have been easier to cut if not on a paper plate using a plastic fork. You know how I am – if I’m paying $10 I don’t want paper and plastic. I really think there needs to be some type of accompaniment on the side other than just a crepe in the center of the plate. Maybe fruit – just something to liven up the appearance and make it a more substantial meal.

I tried the Red Velvet crepe with ice cream for dessert, made with strawberries, cubes of angel food cake and cream cheese, and again, it needed some type of presentation.

We will go back because the people were nice, the crepes were good, and they are very new and just finding their place.

Other menu items include the Margarita ($6) featuring organic roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, steamed basil, diced bacon, and a garden spice blend; Japponnaise ($9.95) with smoked salmon, egg, tomato, spinach, and cheese; and the galaxy crepe ($8) featuring chocolate, marshmallow, caramel and crème.

Crepe-a-delic is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Definitely worth a taste.

Meo Mio’s Cajun & Seafood Restaurant Is A Hit

We’ve found a new place that we really like!  Meo Mio’s Cajun & Seafood Restaurant at 4119 Cummings Highway (the old Patrick’s location).   We were greeted at the door as if we were arriving for a party.  The friendly hostess was distributing Mardi Gras beads to all the “party guests” (customers).  Décor is very cheerful and eye catching.  On one ... New Website Aims To Breathe Life Into Local Catering Scene

A Chattanooga man has launched a new website in hopes of assisting local catering business owners to showcase their services, and helping fellow Chattanoogans on their quest to find the right caterer for their special occasion. While scouring the usual search engines for a catering service in early 2011, CaterHub.com founder Scott Veltkamp discovered what he calls a lack of “web ... (click for more)

Signs Vandalized At Cummings Cove As Battle With OHV Owners Continues

Two large advertising signs at the Cummings Cove development in Lookout Valley were vandalized Friday. One sign was spray painted with an expletive and another had the word "Aetna" in large letters.  There has been a long-running dispute between owners of Cummings Cove and those who enjoy going up the old Aetna Mountain Road to ride off-highway vehicles. We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... Roy Exum: The Sadness Of The Recall

Judge Jeff Hollingsworth, his eagle eyes zeroed on the U.S. Constitution and the laws that have been put into place since it was adopted in 1787, ended the recall of Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield Friday afternoon, but the pall of sadness that the effort cast over the city will last for a lot longer. If “time is money,” the whole deal cost us millions of dollars and even more ... (click for more)
