Belk Announces $4 Million Renovation At Hamilton Place

Friday, September 03, 2010

Belk has announced the beginning of a $4 million renovation of its fashion department store at Hamilton Place Mall.

The project is designed to create an updated store décor that will enhance the shopping experience of Belk customers in the Chattanooga community.

A grand re-opening of the store is scheduled for Oct. 13 to celebrate the completion of the renovation. The project will encompass both of Belk’s current store buildings at Hamilton Place.

The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce will coordinate a ribbon cutting to mark the event at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 13.

The children’s departments will be relocated from the men’s, home and children’s store into the women’s store, which will continue to house all women's apparel, accessories and cosmetics.

The juniors’ area will receive a major overhaul and will move from the first level to the second level of the women’s store. The remaining men’s and home store areas of the men’s home and children’s store will be consolidated into the lower level of the existing building. Both stores will remain open throughout the renovation project.

“This major renovation is a sign of Belk’s ongoing commitment to be the department store of choice in Chattanooga,” said Chris Manning, store manager. “The goal of the project is to give our store a fresh and exciting look that will enhance our selling environment and make shopping more convenient and enjoyable. We’ll be updating the interior design, décor and display fixtures to give our store buildings an exciting new look. Customers will see especially nice improvements in the ladies shoes, handbags, jewelry and accessories areas.

“Our associates are looking forward to the exciting changes that the renovation will bring to our store. We’ll be making every effort to minimize any inconvenience or disruptions that the construction work may cause as we create a store with a brand new look.”
