Proceeds from the third annual Northwest Georgia Bank Battle at Battlefield golf benefit on May 14 topped $30,000 this year, bringing total funds raised since the fundraiser’s inception to more than $100,000.
The money benefits the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe and Ringgold high school football booster clubs and also provides scholarships to students at both schools.
Four student athletes received $500 scholarships during a ceremony before the Tigers vs. Warriors football game on Aug. 27: Kaleigh Akins and Tucker Wilson from LFO and Michala Askew and Caden Womack from Ringgold High School .
The schools have now awarded a dozen $500 scholarships to seniors from proceeds.
Northwest Georgia Bank has served as the tournament’s chief sponsor each year.
