Quick action by volunteer firefighters helped save a million-dollar home in the East Brainerd area on Thursday morning.
At 7:15 a.m., the homeowner, Dr. Michael Love, called 911 reporting heavy smoke in the 2 floor area of his house located at 835 Windy Hills Drive (Hurricane Creek Subdivision).
Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) arrived on the scene reporting heavy smoke coming from the ridge vents of the house. Fire Engineer Eddie Reeves said when firefighters arrived on the scene, they conducted an immediate interior attack to the attic area and extinguished the fire quickly, which alleviated any fire from spreading to the living quarters of the house.
Since this was a very large house, Tri-Communitry VFD requested a mutual aid response from Catoosa County and East Ridge Fire Department for additional manpower and apparatus.
According to Tri-Community Fire Marshall Amory Planchard, the cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
Damages are undetermined as well. No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries.
