Years ago Jeff Hollingsworth was a district attorney here in Chattanooga.
He prosecuted a punk who stole my car that I had just finished paying off.
I never forgot his assistance in justice then.
Now he is in the middle of one of the biggest and messiest political fights we have seen in Chattanooga in a long time.
He could have accepted the motion to put it out of his courtroom and into Chancery Court and have it not be his problem.
According to the Times Free Press, he said that the case was “here and I’m going to have to deal with it."
If only all our civil servants had the backbone of this man.
One thing I am confident in is whether you think these Tea Party people are loony, right-wing extremists or the mayor is a crook,
you should be certain Judge Hollingsworth will uphold the letter and the spirit of the law in his decision regardless of politics.
