Tennessee American Water announced the start of a water main installation on Sawyer Street. This
project, estimated to cost approximately $35,000, will replace about 300 feet of two-inch galvanized water main installed nearly 80 years ago.
This project is part of Tennessee American Water’s proactive water main
replacement program, designed to identify and replace water lines that are at the end of their useful lives.
John Watson, president of Tennessee American Water, said, “This is another example of Tennessee American Water’s continued commitment to the community. These routine investments in the system will allow our customers to receive high quality reliable water service for years to come. In the past 15 years, we have invested approximately $121 million into our service area water facilities and our customers still continue to receive high quality, reliable water service for less than a penny per gallon."
Construction crews will work weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tennessee American Water expects to complete the project by the end of
September, weather permitting.
