Bendabout Farm will host polo matches thise weekend weather permitting.
Matches will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The matches are open to the public. There is no admission charge and there is plenty of free parking.
The matches will feature players from the professional and amateur ranks including Owen Rinehart, a previously ranked 10 goal player.
Of local interest are Gillian Johnston, outstanding international female player, and Will Johnston, a very successful young player and manager in the ranks of polo.
These matches will serve as a warm up for the Bendabout team which will begin competition the following week in Aiken, S.C., for several tournaments including in the prestigious Silver Cup Tournament designated by the US Polo Association as the highest rated competition in the fall season of polo.
The feature match played on Sunday will benefit the 6th Cavalry Museum in Fort Oglethorpe. Polo matches between Bendabout Farm and the 6th Cavalry at Fort Oglethorpe date back to the 1930s.
While admission and parking are free to those attending the match, representatives of the museum will be on hand to answer questions and accept voluntary contributions which are encouraged.
Bendabout Farm is located at McDonald just south of Cleveland on Highway 11. Signs will mark the entry.
