B.W. Dortch, 81, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at his home.

He was born August 31, 1930 in Bear Spring, Tn., to the late Clate Christopher and Agatha Beasley Dortch.

He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War and was a retired director of communications with Redstone Arsenal after 30 years of service.

Mr. Dortch was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and the Lighthouse Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Partners and Peers for Diabetes.

His sisters, Sue Allen and Helen Richey and brother, Buddy Dortch, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Helen Dortch; sons, Christopher M. Dortch and his wife, Patricia of Chattanooga; Jeffrey L. Dortch of Huntsville, Ala.; grandson, Christopher Michael Dortch II; granddaughter, Jennifer Hooper and her husband, Christopher; great-grandson, Lucas Alan Hooper, all of Chattanooga; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, at 11 a.m. at Brainerd Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 1, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel.
