Athletic Field House Opens At Chattanooga State

  • Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Chattanooga State Community College will host a grand opening for its new Athletic Field House on Friday at 1 p.m.

The facility is the culmination of the vision of Chattanooga State’s president, Dr. James Catanzaro, and the college’s winning coaches Greg Dennis, baseball, and Beth Keylon-Rnadolph, softball.

The Athletic Field House provides much-needed space for the Tiger baseball team and the Lady Tigers softball team. A shared weight room is located in the middle of the complex along with a trainer’s room. Both teams now have spacious locker rooms with shower and restroom facilities. Also included are laundry rooms with a washer and dryer for each team. In addition to Coach Dennis and Coach Keylon-Randoph’s offices, conference rooms are available for planning game strategy, or for use as study halls.

When asked what the addition of the Athletic Field House means to Chattanooga State’s athletic program, Athletic Director Steve Jaeaks said, “First it propels Chattanooga State to the forefront as a leader in athletic performance and support services from a recruiting standpoint. Second, it frees up space in the Health and Fitness building for an expansion of locker room space for the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Finally, student affairs will gain additional space for personnel and student activities.”
