The First Tennessee Pavilion was filled with thousands of library patrons as excited young children celebrated their summer reading accomplishments.
Along with their families, 1,275 participants picked up certificates of achievement and prize packets at The Public Library’s “One World, Many Stories,” summer reading program grand finale.
In all, 3,442 children met their reading goals.
The children’s summer reading program registered 5,196 young readers and listeners. Children who met their reading or listening goals reported 161,380 books read during the 8-week program.
To reward readers, area merchants and businesses donated discount attraction tickets, free food coupons and other prizes totaling over $225,000.
