Congressman Chuck Fleischmann will be traveling to the state of Israel with fellow congressmen Aug. 13-20.
He said, “I am excited to be traveling to Israel to get a first-hand education on the challenges facing our strongest ally in the region. It will be a chance to learn more about the Middle East, the ongoing peace process and the Judeo-Christian history that means so much to many people across the world.
"This will be a productive time of education and relationship building as our country continues to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel.
We have no greater friend in the Middle East than Israel, and it is important we have a strong relationship now and in the future.”
The trip will include meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres, defense experts, economic experts and religious leaders. The trip will also include visits to holy sites and strategic security sites.
The trip is sponsored by the American Israel Education Foundation, and paid for with private donations. AIEF has been sponsoring trips like this one for the last 20 years, it was stated. The group is sponsoring multiple trips this month in which 55 Republican and 26 Democratic congressmen will be participating, including House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA).
