Registration Underway For Dragon Boat Festival

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Registration is open for the 6th Annual Children’s Hospital Dragon Boat Festival.

Corporate and community teams can register online at www.chattanooga.racedragonboats.com. Race day is Saturday, May 19, at the TVA Park at Chickamauga Dam.

Dating back more than 2,300 years, Dragon Boat racing features teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer and steerer in authentic 46-foot long dragon boats. All ages, skill levels and physiques can participate, making it the ultimate team building sport, requiring synchronicity and finesse, more than power to win.

Paddlers raise pledges for the Children’s Hospital, where more than 36,000 patients are treated annually, regardless of ability to pay. The Children’s Hospital Dragon Boat Festival showcases competitive community and corporate teams racing for title of Grand Champion. In its sixth year, this event is the ultimate in fun and fundraising. Last year, paddlers from 47 teams collected $107,000 for the hospital.
