Poppy's Smokehouse has opened at 2102 Taft Highway on Signal Mountain.
Poppy's Smokehouse is named for owner David Soloff III's grandfather, Poppy, from whom the family secret recipes were handed down.
"Poppy believed in slow smoking BBQ techniques that used oak wood to provide the heat and hickory wood to enhance the smoked flavor of his food," said Mr. Soloff. "He also used hand-trimmed meats marinated for over 12 hours to enhance the experience of one of his cooked delicacies," he added.
Poppy's menu is extensive and features, burgers, salads, sandwiches, quesadillas, soups and sides. But two unique items are worth a stop at this "destination restaurant" atop the mountain.
Poppy's serves Pork Puppies, which are lightly breaded & fried pulled pork rolled into a ball with a unique taste. In addition, Poppy's features value-priced Family Packs for folks on the go starting at $10.99.
Poppy's Smokehouse is open Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
