GPS Senior Kara Maynord Wins DII Individual State Bowling Title

SMYRNA, Tenn. -- Chattanooga already has one 2012 TSSAA state bowling champion and four teams advancing to semifinal play Saturday morning.

GPS senior, Kara Maynord, earned the Division I girls individual title Thursday. Maynord finished with a total pinfall of 1,851 finishing 27 pins over two-time defending state champ, Ensworth senior, Miranda Mott.

Mott was in 1st place and Maynord in 6th place going into the semifinal round.

GPS, McCallie, and both the girls and boys team from Soddy-Daisy will be in here Saturday morning for the team semifinals with winners advancing to the finals Saturday afternoon.

GPS (21-0) will face St. Agnes (11-2) at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. The winner will advance to the finals and face the winner of the St. Benedict/St. Mary’s semifinal match at 12:30 p.m. eastern time.

In the boys DII semifinals, McCallie (15-1) will face Donelson Christian Academy (24-3) at the 10 a.m. semifinals with the winner advancing to the 12:30 p.m. finals versus the St. Benedict/MUS winner.

Both of Soddy-Daisy’s teams will be playing in the 10 a.m. semifinals. The Lady Trojans (13-2) will face undefeated Collierville (19-0) in the 10 a.m. semifinals. If they win they will see the winner of the Hendersonville/Hardin Co. winner.

The boys semis is a battle of the unbeatens with Soddy Daisy (20-0) facing Hardin Co. (21-0) at 10 a.m. with the winner advancing to meet either White Station or Columbia Central in the 12:30 p.m. finals.

Flames Outslug Blue Raider
