An accident involving a Chattanooga police officer on Monday sent both the officer and another person to the hospital.
Officer Jared Hamilton was driving on 1500 Dodds Avenue with his emergency lights and siren activated as he responded to a robbery call. When he reached the intersection of East Main Street, he slowed and proceeded into the intersection as he had the green light.
A vehicle traveling on East Main Street also entered the intersection and struck Officer Hamilton’s patrol car.
The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Frankie Pinkston, 46. Both Officer Hamilton and Pinkston were transported to Erlanger Hospital via EMS with minor injuries.
Pinkston was cited for failure to yield right-of-way.
