Chattanooga Police Officer Involved In Accident On Monday

An accident involving a Chattanooga police officer on Monday sent both the officer and another person to the hospital.

Officer Jared Hamilton was driving on 1500 Dodds Avenue with his emergency lights and siren activated as he responded to a robbery call.  When he reached the intersection of East Main Street, he slowed and proceeded into the intersection as he had the green light. 

A vehicle traveling on East Main Street also entered the intersection and struck Officer Hamilton’s patrol car. 

The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Frankie Pinkston, 46. Both Officer Hamilton and Pinkston were transported to Erlanger Hospital via EMS with minor injuries. 

Pinkston was cited for failure to yield right-of-way.

Girl Found Dead On Porch Was 14

The girl who was found dead on a porch on 12th Avenue on Monday was 14 years old. Funeral services are pending for Chelsea Smith Hayes, who police say was killed on Sunday and whose body was then placed on the porch.
