Exhibit Of Walker County Schools History Runs Through Jan. 31

An exhibit on the history of Walker County schools will run at Chattooga Academy through Jan. 31.

The exhibit features photographs of early schools in Walker County, two early desks from the Concord School and other items related to school history.

Chattooga Academy, also called John B. Gordon Hall, is the oldest remaining brick school building in Georgia. John B. Gordon attended the school as a child and later went on to serve as a Confederate general, Georgia governor and U.S. senator.

A volunteer will be on-hand to assist visitors with the exhibit on Sundays from 1-3 p.m. Chattooga Academy is open between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. most days, Monday through Friday.

The building is at 304 N. Main St., LaFayette, Ga. Admission is free.

Man Who Survived By "Playing Dead" Points To Talley, Grace As Robbers Involved In Shooting Of Him And Rapper Brikk

The California agent for a promising Chattanooga rapper on Tuesday afternoon identified Dexter Talley and Alonzo Grace as two of five men who burst into a Highway 58 area duplex and robbed and then shot him and Robert "Brikk" Brown.
