Scenic City Storage Helps Heroes Keep In Touch With Home

Scenic City Storage Collects Handmade Cards

Monday, October 01, 2012

Scenic City Storage is will be participating in an “Operation Write Home Drive” from Oct. 1-Jan. 31. Scenic City Storage is collecting blank handmade greeting cards to send to troops to write home on, as well as "AnyHero" cards of gratitude to encourage them. They have set up a little arts and craft area at the facility so those that stop by can make a card.

Operation Write Home - This band of thousands of card makers is made up of Americans – and citizens of other nations too – who care about our military, and want to support them through creativity and encouragement. Many thousands of crafters of all ages and levels of experience have participated since 2007.

Care packages filled with hundreds of handmade cards are sent to their contacts, and are sent in time for the long journey back home to loved ones. Each box is packed with great care, alternating styles, colors, and card makers from all over the USA, creating “eye candy” for heroes who see only khaki around them. The topper on each box is a plastic bag filled with 20-30 letters from adults and children across the country, letters handed out especially to those in need of a positive word from the home front.

Scenic City Storage is at 5027 Hixson Pike.  They offer flexible hours, security, Penske truck rentals, free boxes, and other moving supplies for sale.  For more information, visit the property, call 648-7867, or find them online at www.ScenicCityStorage.com or operationwritehome.org

I am still wincing over the fact a horrendous bill passed in the state legislature that would make whistle-blowers into criminals would have actually gone into law had it not been for Governor Bill Haslam’s eleventh-hour veto. Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
