“You Can’t Take It with You,” one of Broadway’s all-time classics and a favorite from the Hilltop Players’ repertoire, will open the Bryan theatre season Oct. 11-13.
Director Britain Willcock said the 2012-13 season will feature a number of Hilltop Players’ favorites, starting with “this great comedy. The story is about a quirky family, the Sycamores, full of love and awareness of who they are—and they’re a little ‘out there.’ They come into contact with the Kirbys, who think they know who they are, but have put their priorities in the wrong place. It’s a wonderful reflection on the importance of family, love, and knowing who you truly are.”
Leading roles in the play will be filled by Lucy Moore, a senior theatre major, as Alice Sycamore; Luke Fox, a junior theatre major, as Grandpa Vanderhof; Emily Belisle, a senior theatre major, as Penny Sycamore; Brian Huff, a senior musical theatre major, as Paul Sycamore; Alexis Landry, a senior music major, as Essie Carmichael, the married Sycamore daughter who wants to be a ballerina; and Matt Redding, a freshman theatre major, as Tony Kirby, Alice’s love interest.
The play will be presented nightly at 7:30 in Rudd Auditorium. Tickets are available at the box office, Rudd room 114, daily from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. or at the door.
