Four members of the GPS senior class have been named Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Erika Berg, Monica Justo, MaryKate Ryan, and Chappel Sharrock received letters of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program and were recognized at a school assembly.
“As demonstrated by their outstanding performance in our highly competitive program,” said a NSMC spokesperson, the students “represent some of the most academically talented students in our country. Recognition of high-achieving students is essential to advancing educational excellence in our nation.”
The Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2013 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Senior Sara Griffith was previously announced as a National Merit Semifinalist.
