A Sale Creek home was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon.
At 3:15 p.m., motorists driving on Highway 27 called 911 reporting a fire on Dayton Pike and Coleman Road. Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene at 13205 Dayton Pike a few minutes later reporting 50 percent of the house was fully involved. Since the use of water was hampered due to no close fire hydrant, Sale Creek VFD requested a mutual aid response for a water tanker and fire personnel. Dallas Bay VFD responded as well for rehab.
Mason Stanford (age 83), who was living at the house, reported he had started a fire in his wood stove Monday morning. Before leaving for lunch, he attempted to extinguish the fire in the wood stove. When he returned from lunch, he noticed all the responder units on the scene.
No injuries were reported by Hamilton County EMS. The house is a total loss and damages are unknown at this time. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time as well. Mr. Stanford will be staying with family members.
