Atlanta rock and roll band the Sundogs will perform “The Tom Petty Show” at Rhythm & Brews on Friday. The Sundogs, led by brothers Will and Lee Haraway, will open the show with a set of their own songs taken from their more than 10 year history playing in Atlanta and around the Southeast.
“We did a Petty Show for fun back in the spring and were pumped at the reaction from our friends and fans,” said Will Haraway. “Petty’s music fits our style so we thought we'd take it on the road and promote some of our new music in the bargain.”
In his 45 year career, Tom Petty has sold more than 60 million albums and he and the Heartbreakers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
“We’ll do a set of our best songs and then come back out and play the Petty as loud and awesome as we can,” said Haraway.
The Sundogs are promoting a new single, "Get it Right," which is a free download on their site, www.sundogs.net as well as a video slated for CMT airplay next month.
The Sundogs have released two Americana/Southern Rock albums in the last six years. Members of the Sundogs, which include blues guitarist (and former Chattanooga resident) John Harris, gunslinger Benji Shanks and keyboardist Kevin Thomas, have shared staged with Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Widespread Panic, The Wailers, Burning Spear, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Chuck Leavell, Bill Kreutzman, Blackberry Smoke, Lucero, Oliver Wood and Ike Stubblefield.
