Passport Scholars Create Displays On Summer Travel Experiences

Passport Scholars will present highlights of their summer travel experiences at the Public Education Foundation on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the PEF Leadership Center, 3rd floor, 100 E. 10th St.

  Passport Scholars are rising junior girls from Hamilton County public schools selected to participate in a rigorous summer enrichment program.

Officials said, "When they return – more confident, capable, and energized about their futures – Passport girls bring their experiences home to act as leaders in their schools and communities."

 Participants have created tabletop displays chronicling their summer learning experiences through photos and artwork. Attendees will circulate through these displays and hear directly from the Scholars about their summer programs, what they learned, and their future educational and career goals.

Lee, 5 Juveniles Charged In Multiple Robberies

Police have arrested an 18-year-old, four 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old in connection with several back-to-back robberies. Head Of BB&T's Chattanooga Commercial Banking Operations To Plead Guilty To Making Fraudulent Loans

The head of BB&T's Chattanooga commercial banking operations has been charged by federal authorities with making fraudulent loans. Tracy Brown is set to plead guilty to bank fraud on June 4.
