In a world where it seems the bad outweighs the good, greed has replaced honesty and me, myself and I have become more important than helping your fellow man or woman, I, too, had become concerned about the world we live in today. On Oct. 8, 2012, a life-changing event helped to reaffirm my belief that one person can make a difference in someone's life.
Monday afternoon my husband and I were involved in a head-on collision by a hit-and-run driver while traveling on Oak Street toward Shallowford Road and Crest Drive up Missionary Ridge.
Several cars passed us by without responding to our pleas for help. One woman mouthed, "Are you OK?" Then, out of nowhere, John A. appears. John made sure we were OK and went the extra mile to get the tag number as the driver of the other car drove away.
Again, John A., we say thank you for your help, kindness and being a part of what was good and decent on this day.
