First Christian Has Several Upcoming Activities

Pastor Paul Rebelo will present a message titled “The One Thing?” on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 10:45 a.m. Assistive listening devices are available to worshippers with hearing loss during the service. Real-time captioning also is offered on many Sundays. Visitors are always welcome!

October is Community Kitchen Month. Monetary gifts are always appreciated - use number 161 when donating to help track what FCC donates; food donations including corn, pork & beans and also paper napkins are in high demand.

With winter weather approaching, warm clothing is always needed. Place items in the donation center box located in the lobby.

Habitat Work Day is Saturday. Workers are needed from 8:30-noon and 1-4 p.m. Call the church office at 267-4506 if you can help.

A Congregational meeting will follow the Oct. 21 worship service. The slate of new officers, elders and deacons for 2013 will be presented for a vote.

First Christian Church will hold its very first Trunk or Treat on Oct. 28 from 4-7 p.m. Hotdogs, chips, beverages, cookies and a bouncy house will compliment trunk loads of candy from members for an evening of family and Halloween fun. Volunteers and donations coordinated by Katie King.

Regularly scheduled outreach events include meetings of Narcotics Anonymous on Monday and Friday at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday Night Fellowship Dinners, 5:30 p.m.; Tai Chi on Fridays at 11 a.m.

St. Timothy's Holds Family Mission Camp

St. Timothy's will hold its 2nd Annual Family Mission Camp from Monday, June 17 through Thursday, June20. There will be food, fun, and growing together.  Everyone is invited to attend. (click for more)

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. Officials said it consisted of numerous pit bills, a fight ring, a treadmill and blood-stained carpets and paneling. Mcckamey Animal Services personnel were processing the fight scene. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
