Give Me Some Common Sense

Sunday, October 14, 2012

I am so sick of being bombarded with political ads. If they only knew that nothing they can say will change my mind.

Like most people, I suspect, I’m pretty much set in my ways. I vote the person, not the party, but I lean right. I’m against any able-bodied person getting any sort of permanent government handout. I’m for a hand up…not a hand out. I’m against sending one dime to any other country until we get our own financial house in order, especially to countries that hate our guts and burn our flag.

I’m for creating jobs, like the WPA, for Americans. I’m for supporting old folks who have worked their whole lives and who now can’t afford the medicine they need. I’m for anything and everything this country can do to help and support our veterans. I’m for securing our borders and for forcing immigrants to follow the established laws to come to this country and become citizens. We are proudly the “melting pot,” and citizens of the world are welcome here, but they have to follow the law to get here.

I’m not for bailouts, but if we are going to dole them out, let’s bail out our citizens: the coal miners, the truckers, those laid off, those losing their homes. Don’t give the money to the banks. We already know that they will keep it for themselves. Give it directly to Americans who really need it.

I am for prayer in schools, at football games, at dinner, and on a quiet horseback ride down a Tennessee mountain trail at dusk. We need all the prayer we can get. I’m not against any other religion in this country but believe that the majority rules, and that I shouldn’t have to give up my faith to accommodate someone else’s. We certainly need to be tolerant, but this country was founded on Christianity; that’s a fact.

I wish I could fast-forward through every political add on TV and delete every political rant on Facebook. I’m ready for some honesty and common sense for a change.

Questionable Moc Coaching Choices - And Response (2)

David Blackburn proved that he rolled an elder vice chancellor to hire Will Wade. I can't find one game Wade coached. Should we think he is a better coach than the Georgia coach that won the SEC? At least four jobs were open in and around Wade's hometown, Nashville. No one mentioned his name. While Blackburn was preaching in the Chattanoogan Room about the fairness of the ... Clowns - And Response (3)

Back in 1973 Stephen Sondheim wrote a song for a Broadway play he titled Send in The Clowns. It subsequently became popular fare for many artists including Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey and others, becoming a popular hit, twice, for '60's activist and protester Judy Collins. I first thought of it as just another boring, elevator music attempt by a former HippyChic to pump up her ... (click for more)
