McCallie Freshman Tanay Patri has proven his mastery of the game of chess since his arrival at McCallie several years ago. Recently, he added to his competition resume by winning the high school division at the first Chattanooga City Chess Championship.
The contest was open to all K-12 students in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and North and South Carolina.
Tanay, the son of Neelanjan and Vandana Patri, won three matches and lost one at the event which was held at the McCallie School.
