The East Hamilton girls soccer team opened their post-season on Tuesday by hosting Hixson in the District 6A/AA semifinal. The top seeded Lady Hurricanes scored two goals in each half to earn a 4-1.
East Hamilton beat Hixson 9-0 in the regular season.
East Hamilton head coach John Millard expected a tough match from Hixson.
"This was about what was expected for our first post-season game," Millard said.
"There was alot of emotion. We didn't play like we wanted to but was glad to see the girls grind it out and we got the win."
Nicole Ford and Chandler Smith scored goals in the first half. Megan Walker and Melissa Newton scored the second half goals.
Emily Saddler, Peyton Rauth and Jordan Kaset had assists.
Hixson's goal was scored by Samantha Green.
The Lady Wildcats end their season with an 8-6-3 record.
East Hamilton goalkeeper Megan Lively had three saves and Cambree Spurlock had nine saves.
East Hamilton out shot Hixson 10-4.
East Hamilton will host the winner of CSAS and East Ridge on Thursday at 5 p.m. for the district championship.
