Grace Baptist Academy sophomore Elisabeth Mouw scored two goals in the second half Tuesday night to lead the Lady Golden Eagles to a 2-0 win over Boyd-Buchanan in a district 5-A/AA semifinal match. Grace advances to the championship at McMinn Central on Thursday.
Mouw's first goal was set up an Alex Walls cross 10 minutes into the second half.
Her second goal midway through the second half was scored by beating the Boyd-Buchanan keeper with footskills after receiving the ball by Emily Clark.
Grace's defense limited Boyd-Buchanan's chances but the Lady Bucs did create a few dangerous chances late in the game including a corner kick with about ten minutes left.
Grace keeper Abby Bosco had six saves.
Grace head coach Gretchen Hammel said she was glad to see her team respond in such a tough match.
"It was a very good game for both sides," Hammel said after getting drenched by her team. "It was a battle. It took a lot of hard work to get those goals. We are thankful for the win."
Grace won a district championship last year and was region runner up before falling to CCS in the state sectional game.
Grace will travel to McMinn Central for the district championship on Thursday. McMinn Central beat the Grace 2-0 in their regular season match up.
McMinn Central won their semifinal on Tuesday 5-1 over Silverdale.
