Street Closings Announced For The Weekend

Reggie White Boulevard between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park will be closed from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, for a concert by the University of Alabama Band.

38th Street from Central Avenue to Alton Park Boulevard and the northbound lane of Alton Park and Market Street from 38th Street to The Howard School will be closed from 5:45-7:30 p.m. on Friday, for The Howard High School Homecoming Parade. 

Pineville Road and Moccasin Bend Road from Hudson Road to Moccasin Bend Hospital will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, from 7:30-11:30 a.m. for the Johnson Mental Health Center 10K Road Race. Motorists are advised to watch for runners in this area.

South Crest Road from Rosemont Drive to Ridge Avenue, South Crest Road at Bragg Reservation, and Sheridan Drive at Seminole Drive will be closed from 12-7 p.m. on Saturday, for the Missionary Ridge Festival.

Reggie White Boulevard between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park, West 19th Street from Reggie White Boulevard to Chestnut Street, West 17th Street from Chestnut Street to Broad Street, and the westbound curb lane of West 20th Street from Chestnut Street to the Highway 27 overpass will be closed from 8 p.m.-midnight on Saturday, for the UTC football game.

Beginning at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, there will be numerous street and lane closures in the downtown area and northeast on Riverside Drive, Amnicola Highway, CB Robinson Bridge, North Access Road and southbound Highway 153 for the 7 Bridges Marathon.  Manufacturers Road from the Renaissance Park entrance, Cherokee Boulevard from Manufacturers Road to the Market Street Bridge and the Market Street Bridge and Market Street from Cherokee Boulevard to Aquarium Way will be temporarily closed until all the runners have cleared the road.  Westbound Aquarium Way, the northbound curb lane of 100 Chestnut Street, Riverfront Parkway from Chestnut Street to Molly Street, the inside lanes of Riverfront Parkway and West 20th Street between Molly Street and Broad Street, the 100 and 200 blocks of Power Alley,  the 100 block of West 3rd Street, the curb lane of southbound 300 Chestnut Street, the ramp from West 4th Street to northbound Highway 27, the northbound curb lane of Highway 27 from 4th Street to the Manufacturers Road exit and ramp, the eastbound shoulder of Manufacturers Road to the Renaissance Park entrance, the east curb lane of Frazier Avenue from Tremont Street to the Veterans Bridge, the southbound curb lane of the Veterans Bridge, including the exit ramp, the inbound curb lane of Riverside Drive and Amnicola Highway to the CB Robinson Bridge, the northbound curb lane of the CB Robinson Bridge to North Access Road, the northbound curb lane of North Access Road to the southbound Highway 153 ramp, the southbound curb lane of Highway 153 from Access Road to Amnicola Highway and the inbound curb lane of Amnicola Highway from 153 Highway to Powerhouse Road, the shoulder of Battery Place, 2nd Street and High Street in the Bluff View Arts District (these 2 roads will not be closed) the inbound curb lane of 3rd Street from High Street to Walnut Street, and Walnut Street north to the Walnut Street Bridge will be closed.  Streets will open as they are vacated by the runners with all streets open by 5 p.m.

Reggie White Boulevard between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park will be closed from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday, for the Chattanooga Market.

The 200 block of Cherry Street, between Aquarium Way and East 3rd Street, will be closed from 4-9 p.m. on Sunday, for the Cherry Street Townhomes Block Party.

Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Terry Releford

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case. Deputies responded to that location at approximately 8 a.m. on a suspicious death. On arrival "deputies found a dead female in her 30s deceased from an apparent homicide."
