Chattanooga firefighters responded to an apartment fire late Wednesday night. The alarm was received at 10:37 p.m. and the Chattanooga Fire Department responded with several fire companies to East Lake Courts at 2471 6th Ave.
Captain Steve Everett with Quint 3 said the fire was contained to one apartment unit, but at least one other unit sustained smoke damage. No injuries were reported and the dollar loss was estimated at around $5,000.
Lt. Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division said the female resident and her young child were reportedly not home when the fire was discovered. Volunteers with the American Red Cross were called in to provide assistance the family. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
