Regional Planning Agency Holds 2040 Transportation Plan Public Workshops

On behalf of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County/North Georgia Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency (RPA) is holding a set of public engagement workshops to obtain input from community residents, businesses, and stakeholders on future transportation needs over the next 20+ years to inform the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan. The plan is a federally mandated document to ensure federal funding for the implementation of transportation projects in Hamilton County, and Dade, Catoosa, and Walker Counties in Georgia.

Four meetings are being held in different locations to capture input from across the region.  Information will be presented and staff will facilitate participant input.  Participants may attend any one of the meetings at any time during the period specified for each location below.

The 2040 Regional Transportation Plan is a collaborative planning effort funded by the Chattanooga-Hamilton County/North Georgia Transportation Planning Organization, Departments of Transportation in Tennessee and Georgia, the Federal Highway Administration, and the Federal Transit Administration.  Additional public events are planned for the spring of 2013, a draft plan is expected for public review by fall of 2013, and final approval by the U.S. Department of Transportation is expected by spring of 2014. 

Citizens are encouraged to follow the process on Facebook at www.facebook.com/2040RTP, check out Plan materials on the website at www.chcrpa.org/2040RTP.htm, and complete the Questionnaire online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/2040RTP.  The survey will also be available at the public workshops and can be obtained from the RPA offices located in the Development Resource Center at 1250 Market Street, downtown Chattanooga.

National Association Of Home Builders Chief Economist To Speak In Chattanooga

Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Terry Releford

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case. Deputies responded to that location at approximately 8 a.m. on a suspicious death. On arrival "deputies found a dead female in her 30s deceased from an apparent homicide." Flooding Closes Some School Systems; Delays Others

Flooding has brought the closing of some area school systems and a delay in starting others. Dayton City Schools , Rhea County Schools and Bledsoe County Schools are closed. Walker County Schools are on a two-hour delay for students and staff (click for more)

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem
