East Ridge Futbol Club Girls Win Two Titles

The East Ridge Futbol Club’s U-12 and U-11 Girls both claimed the Ocoee Cup championship recently in Cleveland.
 
The ERFC 12s, coached by Andrew Lawrence, dispatched McMinn FC 5-1, the Maryville Lady Hammers 6-1 and knocked off Chattanooga Futbol Club on penalty kicks.
 
“The championship game was very closely contested,” said Coach Andrew Lawrence. “We had several opportunities in regulation, but the game ended scoreless and went to overtime and then Penalty Kicks.
 
“Ally Craig was unbelievable in goal and Arden Faires made the game-winning penalty kick,” he added. “Sophia Venable, Shelby Gordon, Lane Lawrence, Alyssa Leverrett and Komal Patri played exceptionally well in the championship game.”
 
Mya McGee scored three goals against McMinn FC with Lawrence and Caroline Casteel adding a goal each.
 
“Katie Houck played very strong defensively and Emily Moser and Ally Craig were very good in goal,” said Lawrence.
 
The ERFC 12s had two goals each from Leverrett and Lawrence in the victory over the Lady Hammers.
 
Camille Ziegler and McGee added a goal each. Anna Smith and Sarah Kate Risely were solid on defense for ERFC.
 
Coach Maria Lima’s ERFC 11s were equally as impressive in claiming Ocoee Cup.
 
ERFC scored 23 goals and allowed just one while winning four matches.
 
The team consists of Alex Upshaw, Ashlyn Spake, Amy Rasmussen, Rachael Skillman, Gigi Robertson, Grace Spurling, Gracie Gilreath, Haleigh Nichols, Riley Craig, Heather Allen, Michael Anne Tawzer, and Jessica Dunavant.
 
The ERFC 11s defeated the ERFC 03 Girls 3-0, ERFC Stahl 02 Girls 10-0, Huntsville Maroon 7-1 and Signal Mountain 3-0 to win its first tournament of the season.
