Orchard Knob Trunk Or Treat Is Oct. 31

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

The Orchard Knob Community Trunk or Treat event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m.

Participants are asked to decorate a (car or truck) trunk with educational, seasonal, sports, Halloween, or organizational decorations as well as provide candy, school supplies, or nutritious snacks for children who visit the group's trunk.

The idea behind this event is the same as trick-or-treating from house to house but in a more controlled, safe, and educationally rich environment . The children will stop at each trunk, receive candy, school supplies, nutritional snacks, organizational literature, and may be entertained by the hosting trunk.

The purpose of this event is to provide the children of the Orchard Knob Community with a safe and enjoyable alternative to Halloween door to door trick or treating. The trucks will be judged by community partners for style and originality. Prizes will be awarded for best trunk. In addition to "Treat in the Trunk “HCDE and community organizations will provide and distribute information about resources available to parents and students.

For more informaiton or to confirm attendance, contact Reginald Smith at 209-8422, Smith_Reginald@hcde.org or Jashari White at 493-0385, white_jashari@hcde.org.

Scandals At Home And Abroad

Since my hip operation and time in recovery, I have tried to set aside things that are insignificant to me and to average Americans. Don't get me wrong here.
